Application Information for New Non-Macquarie students
Your are a non-Macquarie student eligible to apply for summer enrolment if:
- you are a student at another university
- You are a SIBT student who has completed a diploma or advanced diploma at SIBT and who has an offer of a degree place at Macquarie University in Semester 1 2009
- you are an HSC2008 student (your UAI must satisfy any requirements of the Department offering the unit you choose)
- you wish to enrol in a summer unit to satisfy professional development requirements, such as CPA membership (the Department offering the unit/s will determine whether you satisfy unit prerequisites and can be enrolled).
If you are not in any of the above categories please contact the Centre for Open Education to check on your eligibility.
Acceptance into and completion of a summer course does not guarantee admission to an undergraduate degree at the University.
Application Form for new Non-Macquarie students
The summer application form is available from the Centre for Open Education or can be downloaded as a pdf from the link above.
To apply for enrolment in the 2009 Summer Course Program, you will need to complete the Application Form and return it to the Centre for Open Education, together with your payment of the full amount of the tuition fees for the unit or units you have chosen.
List of Available Summer Units
(This list includes prerequiste information - you will need to provide verified evidence such as transcripts of your university or SIBT results, to show how you satisfy any unit prerequisites.)
Please note that non-Macquarie students are enrolled in summer units on a non-award basis and are therefore not eligible to apply for FEE-HELP.
Confirmation of enrolment in Summer Units
If you are accepted for enrolment into a summer unit or units, the Centre will enrol you. There is no need for you to attend the University to enrol.
Wherever possible the Centre will send you written confirmation of your acceptance and enrolment into your summer unit/s. We may need to contact you by email or phone, so please make sure that you give us reliable contact details and that you check your messages and email box regularly.
If your application has to be sent to a Department for approval, it will usually take at least 5 working days before we can let you know whether you have been accepted. However, you are welcome to contact the Centre to find out about the progress of your application.
Cancelled Units
Unfortunately it is sometimes necessary to cancel a unit if, after the closing date on 22 December, the number of enrolments falls below the minimum required by the Department to run the unit.
Information concerning cancelled units will be published after 5pm on Tuesday 23 December on the noticeboard on the main Summer web page.
Library Access
You will be able to use the University Library during your Summer Course studies, and to do this you will need to make special access arrangements with the Library Resource Access area (9850 7507). Please let them know that you are enrolled as a summer student and that your name should be on their Summer Course list.
Exams and Results
Summer results will be available online through eStudent on Thursday 19 February 2009. They will not be available under any circumstances before that date.
You may ask for an official transcript of your results to be sent free of charge to your home institution - contact sesinfo@mq.edu.au and include your name, Macquarie Student ID number and full mailing address.
Requests for result notifications should be sent to apsinfo@mq.edu.au and must includ your name, Macquarie Student ID number and full mailing address.
More detailed information on the areas above, and on other important aspects of the summer program can be found in the Summer Course 2009 Handbook, available as a booklet from the Centre for Open Education or in pdf form from this website.
